Info for Exhibiting Creatives

Growing Pains Initiative welcomes applications from emerging artists, creatives and curators 30 years of age and under to apply for solo/collaborative shows or our themed group exhibitions. See our Upcoming Exhibitions for group shows you can apply for.

exhibition Fees

Solo/Collaborative exhibitions $300 (usually $360) thanks to the generous support of Yarra Ranges Council
Growing Pains curated exhibitions $40 per artist (usually $60) thanks to the generous support of Yarra Ranges Council


What is included in the exhibition fee

  • 3 week exhibition and one week for installation (total 4 weeks)
  • The gallery has a total of 45 metres of wall space, artists in group shows have 4-5 metres of space each (not required to fill the entire space)
  • Marketing of the exhibition on our website, social media and mailing list
  • Installation of artwork
  • Provision of equipment required for installation, including plinths, screens and digital projectors.
  • No commission on artwork sales
  • Facilitating the connection between artist and buyer
  • Facilitation of an opening, usually held first Saturday of exhibition 1pm-3pm (out of hours openings can be negotiated for an additional fee)
  • Minding of the gallery space during opening hours
  • 100 flyers per exhibition to be divided between all artists and venue (more flyers can be requested for an additional fee)
  • Covered by the Growing Pains Initiative Public Liability


Artist responsibilities

  • Transport of work to the gallery
  • Payment for exhibition to be made by specified date
  • Completion of all paper work by specified date
  • Provision of correct information
  • A list of all artworks in the exhibition
  • Provision of an artist statement
  • Provision of an artist bio
  • Provision of images for marketing
  • Ensure artwork is ready for installation (eg title written on back of work, D-rings or wire etc)
  • Finalising artwork purchases with buyers

  • Artist bio/s written in third person
  • Artist statement/s written in third person
  • Outline of the themes/concepts/intentions of your exhibition
  • Special equipment required ie screens, plinths etc
  • 10 images/videos (solo/collaborative) or 2-3 (group show) of work you intend to show, or work that is indicative of what you intend to show. Images: 150-ppi jpeg.
